To meet the challenges of Youth training, the DOL has developed several strategies to ensure services go to the neediest youth, with particular emphasis on out-of-school youth, and to develop demand-driven strategies.

Our goal of creating youth pipelines is designed to cultivate young workers and provide them with skills for the 21st Century economy and replicate employer based models for workforce preparedness.

As Technology Based Learning (TBL) becomes a major part of employer based models, US Wired see the opportunity to position Metrix Learning as a critical component of these programs. With our Five years of experience serving the Youth training market, we believe that Metrix Learning can be uniquely responsive to these challenges.

Career Ready Youth
The Career Ready Youth Program is an eTraining, content driven, solution to educate and prepare youth for the real-world workplace. Through online courses, students engage in specific content related to a career in whatever interest they'd like to pursue. The program runs (4) months in length and upon completion, students are awarded with not only the satisfaction of completing a rigorous workload, but also with a summer internship in the field of their choice. After 4 months of coursework, workshops, and guest speakers, each youth is then prepared to take on a summer internship with successful local affiliated businesses. These successful business partners employ the participants for a 6-week summer internship and give invaluable knowledge and experience to their interns. The interns are immersed in their goal career while earning a competitive wage.

The goal of the Career Ready Youth Program is a key step in our efforts to Create Youth Pipelines. The program provides our young leaders with the skills and education they need to become successful in the business world and bridge the gap between education and commerce in their communities.

Youth Program Partners
By developing a relationship with the key 'stakeholders' in the community we ensure the success of the Youth Program and build sustainable youth pipelines. Key partners include:

  • Members of the corporate sector: chambers of commerce and major corporations. These organizations provide an outlet to summer job opportunities for the youth program participants
  • Government: the Mayor, other key elected officials, and Workforce Investment Boards. These partners provide a vital source of funding for the program.
  • Educational institutions such as school districts and local universities. School districts assist in recruiting program participants and provide the facilities to carry out the e-learning portion of the program while local universities serve as a source in finding motivated interns to work as program administrators. Engaging these individuals and organizations from the local community to participate in a potential youth program eases the weight in delivering the program and enhances the quality of the services provided to the local youth.
